Children have the ability to learn from everything they have around them, but, the adult plays a really important role in the learning process, they are mediators between the stimuli around the kids and the understanding of them.
There are 4 ways that children can learn:
IMITATION: Starting at month 8 children start to copy everything that people around them do, for example, if the person starts to clap the children would try to do the same.
REPETITION: They do the same activity over and over, for example, if they go to a slide they will go over and over.
EXPLORATION: Kids will touch, smell and take everything they find on their way, they usually aren't afraid of touching stuff or running around them, especially when it's something new; that’s why they like to go to parks or open spaces.
EXPERIMENTATION: Trial-Error: is the act or process of trying new ideas or activities.
As adults we have many ways to let children practice these 4 ways to learn, so it’s our job to bring them the right environment to express themselves and learn.
